About Me

Who am I?

Most people call me Jo or JoTomo. I am the founder of the JoTomo channel on YouTube. I enjoy writing, studying linguistics, creating videos and animations, and reading Shonen Jump Magazine in my spare time.

Most people know me from my work over at YouTube, where I am currently running a YouTube channel with an audience of roughly 800+ subscribers. From March 2017 to January 2019 I primarily created content focused on video games and Nintendo. Later that January, however, I began shifting my content to focus more on "For The Record", a video series where I would spotlight some of the vinyl records I have in my collection, while talking about them in detail and offering my opinions and review.

In late February 2019, I posted what would be my last YouTube video for a long while. For many reasons, I decided the best thing to do would be to go on a hiatus from making YouTube content and focus my efforts towards finding a more reliable career and making a living. During this time, I discovered a passion for studying language through a dream of mine that had been on the backburner for years but had always been on my mind: that dream was to live and study in Japan. Determined, I immediately began self-studying Japanese linguistics and laying the foundation for the next big chapter of my life.

As of today (August 23, 2019), I am well on my way towards my goal of studying in Japan during the Fall of 2020. I have learned so many study tips, life hacks, and fascinating stories during my studies and I would like to share some of them here on my website's blog, with hopes that my writing enriches your daily life and teaches you something new, or maybe even inspires you to study linguistics in Japan. I would also like to use this website to write about my many hobbies, which include manga, video games, animation, and music production, just to name a few. My portfolio and current projects can be found on this website as well, which includes my catalog of YouTube videos as well as my graphic design work.

As said by the great Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." I hope this website can serve as a time capsule for my thousand-mile venture and beyond, and I can't wait to share the next step of my journey with you all!
